The External Data Exchange (EDX) system will be integrated into your Sales and Marketing information management system. In conjunction with this system, procedures will be developed to manage the acquisition of data from new sources. One important function of this system is to catalog and track the date of receipt, the size of files and availability of files. It will also provide one area to audit transactions and provide the capability of tracking various load schedules in terms of timing and volume.
EDX will provide a staging area to manage external information, allowing for the consolidation of necessary business transformations and conversions of the external data. Data will also be transformed and converted using standard data engineering terms. Client’s standard for standard naming conventions and common data values will also be enforced.
EDX will need to integrate with Sales and Marketing information architecture and adhere to DW Practice’s architectural implementation and performance standard and recommendations. By having all external data enter the DW Practice Sales and Marketing environment through one source, EDX will become the quality assurance and quality checkpoint for all external data. For EDX we use an extended Use Case driven approach, which also addresses the requirements of the Data driven approach. This approach succeeds in not only delivering the required functionality, but also acknowledges the tendency for some requirements to be changed or added as the implementation proceeds. |
